projects
I'm currently involved with a handful of projects, in and out of academia. Additional pieces of code that I've written can be found on my GitHub page.
- Fetegeo
- Fetegeo is an open source geocoder (similar to the search function in Google Maps) which I am developing for my Final Year Project to incorporate the Open Street Map dataset and make other improvements. During this period I'm maintaining my own development branch of Fetegeo at http://fetegeo.phoenixdev.co.uk/.
- ScarletDME
- ScarletDME is an open source multivalue database licensed under GPLv2. I help administer the server, maintain the community and occasionally commit code.
- bogblog.net
- A bit of an in-joke between myself and my girlfriend. Have you ever been to a public toilet and had a particular strong opinion on the experience you had - good or bad, and thought "I could write a blog post about this"? We have, and bogblog.net is the result. Written in Python/Django, source code soon to be available on my github page.
- Open Rights Group
- The Open Rights Group focuses on protecting peoples privacy and digital rights in the UK. Current campaigns include preventing the deployment of Phorm, stopping the Digital Economy Bill from passing with the current disconnection clauses and the prevention of mass surveillance being performed by the government. I'm involved with the Open Rights Group in my capacity as a general campaigner and a volunteer system administrator.
- Barcamp Bournemouth 2
- I was recenty involved in the organisation of Barcamp Bournemouth 2 which took place in April 2010. The event was a great success, and should be running again in 2011. The hashtag for Barcamp Bournemouth 2 was #bcbomo2
- OpenStreetMap
- OpenStreetMap is a project to map the whole world using user generated GPS tracks and offer the data to the world under a Creative Commons license. The project has a comprehensive map of the UK and is in many cases more accurate than commercial mapping data.
